I’m replacing our food gram scales and need a reliable, 0.1 g resolution model clients can use at home for gram-based feeding charts… Any brand you trust that stays accurate when measuring 65 g kibble portions twice daily for a 7 kg dog on a weight-loss plan?
Been happy with the AWS LB-3000 for home diet plans; it holds 0.1 g on ‘65 g’ kibble and stays honest if we do a quick 50 g coin check (10 nickels) each month. Caveat: it hates squishy counters — have clients weigh on a hard surface. Would battery-only work for you?
For “65 g” portions twice daily, the Ohaus Scout SPX2201 is rock-solid at 0.1 g, but for clients I usually send the AWS LB-3000 and add the AC adapter — , auto-off on batteries drives me nuts. @mpatel16’s coin check is great; I keep a 100 g check weight and have owners tare with the actual scoop they’ll use so 65 g stays repeatable. Do you care more about price or a stainless platform/backlit display?
I like the Adam CBX 1201 for clients: 0.1 g readability, rechargeable, bigger platform that handles a light bowl, and you can disable sleep mode so it doesn’t time out mid-pour. I have owners do a quick ‘100 g calibration weight’ check monthly and keep it on a hard surface away from vents; it’s been solid for 65 g kibble, even when the dog’s ‘helping’. Curious whether @dhowell99 has tried the CBX line, but in my hands it’s more than enough for home diet plans?
And i’ve had solid results with the A&D EJ-1500 (0.1 g, 1.5 kg capacity) for client use; building on @csmith902’s sleep-mode note, you can disable auto-off and it stays stable with a light bowl. I send it with the AC adapter and ask clients to park it on a silicone trivet to cut vibration drift — keeps it from jitterbugging mid-pour. If you want smaller, the A&D HT-1200 behaves similarly; do you need rechargeable or is wall power fine?
