On “busy operations” days, the Datamars Compact Max has been the least fussy for us — reads older 125 kHz chips and the battery lasts a whole shift; we keep a HomeAgain Universal as backup, but it dies faster. @jfitzgerald52 I like the ProScan too; when reads get flaky on metal exam tables, lift the pet or scan a few inches off the surface and go shoulder blades to flank — our hit rate jumped, though the Compact Max does better through carriers at the cost of battery life.
