I’ve been relying on a soft-tip pill gun and a [redacted] oral syringe, plus a snug towel burrito, to medicate spicy cats without scruffing. During AM treatments, what’s working best for you — cat muzzles, Churu chasers, gelcaps, or something I should try — for clean 0.3–[redacted] doses in under 10 seconds?
I pre-load size 3 gelcaps with a tiny smear of Churu as lube, deliver with the soft-tip gun, then immediately syringe 0.5–[redacted] water into the ‘cheek pocket’ — it’s a clean swallow in under 10s with less foaming. If Churu amps them up, a drop of fish oil or plain water works; what gelcap size do you like?
For AM rounds, I skip Churu and load meds into size 5 veggie caps dusted with cornstarch; soft-tip gun from the side, then a quick [redacted] water chaser — reliably under 10 seconds. @lauren_92 the flush is clutch, but Churu makes some chew; sterile lube or Pill Glide spray slides cleaner and keeps the “cheek pocket” calm. Ever try a mesh muzzle just for the insert, then off right away for those 0.3–[redacted] doses?
I adapted the ‘two-minute’ demo for canine toothbrushing — phone timer works; some dogs cap at 45s. https://www.avma.org/resources/pet-owners/petcare/pet-dental-care.
