I’ve been reflecting on the different methods we use to manage post-operative pain in our patients. It’s crucial to start pain relief as soon as possible; I’ve seen some clinics use multimodal approaches effectively. I’m interested in hearing what combinations of medications or therapies have worked for everyone else.
I’ve had success using a combination of NSAIDs and gabapentin for post-op pain, especially in dogs… I’ve noticed they recover faster when we start the combo right after surgery.
